Programs and activities the Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf has created:
- ECFE and Challenger Elementary School –Snacks and Milk. School District 564 STEM Learning Program with Courtney Skjerven as team lead.
- Head Start – Buckets of Love Round-Up
- 4-H Projects – Coordinated with Ashley Nerhus
- Snap-Ed – Coordinated with Megan Hruby. Cooking classes for children held on site until COVID pandemic hit. During the pandemic, we had virtual classes.
- COVID Kids – Chefs for a Summer: A virtual cooking program for children with supplies provided by the food shelf.
- Apple Orchard at Skjerven Farms
- Salvation Army – The Executive Director is their president.
- Hunger Heroes Campaign – Local businesses, manufacturers and schools were involved in purchasing stickers with all proceeds given to the food shelf.
- COVID Cooking with Food Stamps
Additional programs and activities the Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf works with include:
- Community Holiday Dinners – Sponsored By the Area Food Shelf, Salvation Army and Evangelical Free Church.
- Power of Produce – Garden seeds given to all area schools.
- One Veggie, One Community – Garden seeds given to all area schools.
- Inter-County Community Council Employment and Training Program for Seniors and At-Risk Youth, for WorkForce Development.
- FFEN – Foundation for Essential Needs.
- Prowler Pantry – Located at Lincoln High School and Franklin Middle School.
- St. Bernard’s Catholic School – Snacks for students.
- Spirit of Giving – Donations to Zion Lutheran Church to aid needy families during the Christmas holiday season.
- Heritage Senior Center – Food Sharing.
- Lutheran Social Services – Food Sharing.
- Elevate – Snacks for youth – Food Sharing.
